Calgary Dental Veneers (Porcelain Veneers)

What are Dental Porcelain Veneers?

With porcelain veneers, you can get that picture perfect white smile you’ve always wanted. Maybe you have a small tooth gap, a chip, or other imperfection. Or maybe you want to change the shape or color of your teeth. Porcelain veneers may be the answer. The application process is simple and pain-free. Most times, but not always, it involves shaving a tiny bit of enamel from your tooth so the veneer which is about the thickness of a fingernail can seamlessly be placed. As you can see in the image to the right, these wafers of porcelain are extremely thin. They are bonded directly to the surface of your tooth to transform your smile.

What to Expect with Porcelain Veneers

The process for new veneers is simple and can be completed in as little as two office visits. To begin, we will have you come in and we will help you decide exactly how you want your new smile to look. With a smile makeover the possibilities are endless.  For example, changing the shape, size, or color of your teeth can make you look and feel younger, confident, or even more sophisticated. We can assist you in taking important factors like face shape and the shading of your teeth into account. But ultimately this is a very personal decision that only you can make. Once you have determined exactly how you want your new smile to look, you will have a tooth preparation appointment. If any shaving of the teeth is required, that will be done at this time. Then, the dentist will take an impression of your teeth. The impression will be sent over to the ceramist to create your own customized set of porcelain veneers. When they return from the laboratory, first we want to make sure you are completely satisfied with how they look. We offer a beautiful smile guarantee which means that if you don’t absolutely love the way they look, we will send them back to the laboratory until they appear exactly how you envisioned. So we will try them on and we will keep sending them back as many times as it takes! Once you have determined that you love the way your new smile looks, it’s time to permanently bond them to your teeth. A powerful resin is used to adhere them in place. Now it’s time to show off your beautiful new smile! If you think you may be interested in porcelain veneers, we invite you to come in for a free consultation where our dentist will meet with you to personally explain the process and answer any questions you may have.
