The Invisalign System

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign® is the invisible way to straighten teeth using a series of custom-made, nearly undetectable aligners.  The aligners move your teeth gradually to straighten them into a beautiful smile. Invisalign® aligners are used to treat teeth that are crooked, gapped, or teeth that have shifted since wearing braces

The Invisalign Process

  1. Your first step is to book a complementary initial consultation with a dentist at Rockyview Dental Care. During the consultation, you and the dentist will discuss your concerns in detail to determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign. This will also be your opportunity to ask any questions about Invisalign, costs, dental/orthodontic insurance, or any other concerns.
  2. During the 2nd appointment, dental records  will be taken, including x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth, which will use to create a digital 3-D image of them. From these images your dentist will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth, and tell you the approximate length of treatment. Using the same technology your doctor will be able to show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will move with each stage of treatment. 
  3. Based on your dentist’s precise treatment plan, customized aligners will be created with specialized Invisalign technology, for you to wear at each stage of your treatment.
  4. Each set of aligners is worn for about 1 week, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. The aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours per day, throughout your entire treatment.
  5.  As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to their final ideal positions.
  6. You'll visit us about once every six weeks to monitor the progress of your treatment and receive the next series of aligners.
  7. Total treatment time averages at 6-12 months, although this will vary for each individual case.
